Theme Parks in and Around Seoul - Lotte World, Everland, Seoul Land
At a glance — Seoul has two major parks: Lotte World (in the city, indoor and outdoor) and Everland (in Yongin, the largest in Korea). On a tight budget or with young kids, Children's Grand Park or Seoul Land are plenty. Book tickets on Klook or Trazy to save up to 25%.
Lotte World - the most convenient from downtown
Located at Jamsil (lines 2 and 8, exit 3 leads straight into the complex), Lotte World combines the world's largest indoor park (Adventure) and an outdoor park on a man-made island in the middle of Seokchon Lake (Magic Island). The complex also houses restaurants, a folk museum, and an aquarium.
- Typical hours: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. weekdays, until 10 p.m. on Friday and weekends.
- Tickets: from roughly $30 to $40 for an adult, depending on the booking platform.
- Strengths: easy subway access, open even in bad weather thanks to the indoor section.

Everland - the largest in Korea
Everland sits in Yongin (Gyeonggi Province), about 1 to 1.5 hours from central Seoul depending on traffic. It's the country's biggest park, with themed zones (Global Fair, Zoo-Topia, European Adventure) and the undisputed star: T Express, one of the world's steepest wooden roller coasters.
- 2026 tickets: expect around ₩54,000 (about $40) for an adult at the gate, with foreigner-only tickets around ₩40,000–50,000 via Klook, Trazy, or Seoul Pass.
- Access: direct shuttles from Hongdae, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, or Seoul Station (book ahead). Otherwise, take the Bundang subway line to Giheung, then transfer to the Everland Line.
- Tip: plan for a full day — the park is large and lines can be long.

Seoul Land - vintage and more affordable
The first amusement park to open in Korea (1988), Seoul Land is located in Gwacheon, right next to Seoul Grand Park (a sprawling complex with zoo, botanical garden, and modern art museum). The vibe is more retro, the crowds are thinner, and the prices are gentle. There are more than 40 rides and several seasonal festivals (cherry blossom, tulip, Halloween).
- Access: subway line 4, Seoul Grand Park station, about 30 minutes from downtown.
- Hours: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. weekdays, until 10 p.m. on public holidays.
- Pair it with the neighboring zoo for a full family day out.
Children's Grand Park - free, ideal for young kids
In the Gwangjin neighborhood (line 7, Children's Grand Park station), this municipal park is free for main entry, the zoo, and the gardens. Only the mechanical rides (14 attractions, including a small roller coaster and a Ferris wheel) cost extra, paid à la carte or with a pass. A solid pick for a half-day with kids aged 3 to 10.
- Park open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., zoo 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., amusement section until 6:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m. on weekends).
Aquariums - the rainy-day plan B
Two easy indoor alternatives to fold into a shopping day, or to fall back on when the weather turns:
- SEA LIFE COEX Aquarium (Gangnam, Samseong station): the largest in Korea, around ₩35,000 at the gate, roughly ₩27,000–28,000 via booking platforms.
- Lotte World Aquarium (Jamsil, inside the Lotte complex): 650 species, accessible without entering the theme park. Full price around ₩33,000, discounted tickets from about ₩25,000.
Which park for which traveler
- Teens and thrill-seekers: Everland for T Express, otherwise Lotte World for the Gyro Drop and Atlantis Adventure.
- Family with young kids: Lotte World (the indoor section is reassuring) or Children's Grand Park (free, less exhausting).
- Small budget: Seoul Land plus the zoo, or Children's Grand Park.
- Half a day only: Lotte World, since travel time rules out Everland, which needs a full day.
Tips
- Book online (Klook, Trazy, KKday, Seoul Pass): discounts of 15 to 25% are common, and you skip the ticket window.
- Avoid Korean weekends and public holidays, especially in spring and summer: lines are very long. Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are better.
- Magic Pass (Lotte World) and Q-Pass (Everland) let you reserve a time slot for the headline rides — useful in peak season, optional off-peak.
- Dress: Everland and Seoul Land are mostly outdoors, so bring an umbrella or a warm layer depending on the season.
